About your surgeon
Chris McDonald is a specialist head and neck surgeon (oral and maxillofacial surgeon) who lives and works in Aberdeen.
​
He studied medicine in Aberdeen and trained as a surgeon in the world renowned Liverpool Head and Neck Centre. Before becoming a surgeon, Chris studied dentistry and worked both in general and hospital practice.
​
He has spent over 20 years studying and managing surgical conditions of the face, mouth and neck giving him a deep understanding and expertise in this complex area.
​
Chris is a consultant surgeon in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and clinical lead of the Grampian Maxillofacial service. His NHS work involves surgical removal and reconstruction of cancers of the face, mouth and neck, and the management and reconstruction of complex facial trauma in adults and children.
​
Chris has a keen interest in research and studies how to minimise the side effects and complications of cancer surgery. He is part of the team introducing robotic head and neck surgery to the North of Scotland.
​
His interest in reducing recovery time and minimising complications is carried into his facial aesthetic practice. He is proud to offer cutting edge treatments such as MyEllevate minimally invasive neck lifts, Beautifill® Laser Liposuction and fat transfer, Cellenis® PRP Dermal Fillers and Pixel® Laser therapy. His background in facial bone reconstruction means he is one of the only surgeons in Scotland able to offer chin and jawline reshaping procedures and implants.

Chris is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a Member of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and member of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists and European Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons.

He regularly teaches and lectures on head and neck surgery locally, nationally and internationally.
